Well, I'm almost packed. I gotta get my taxes done before I can really get
packed. If I led a less complicated life it would be a lot easier. Not
complaining mind you, it's OK at the time but then it takes forever to find
documents and sort stuff out. OK, I am complaining.

Think positive thoughts about the weather - no whiteouts, no tornadoes. I
clearly remember the sound of a freight train in the middle of the night and
one such experience is enough.

I'm hoping to find the obituary for David Piatt, the remarriage date for
Hannah and Thomas Darling, and their obituaries. Found gravesites at the
Patton Cemetery-the Old Walker Section, Centre Township, City of La Porte:
Josiah Piatt (son of David?)
Sarah Piatt (daughter of David)
David -
Frederika (this is a new name - who is she?)

When I get over to South Bend, I hope to find out more about Jonathan Hardy,
father in-law of Joseph Paxton Piatt. JPP and wife Mary Carper Hardy lived
with Jonathan and family for several years, or at least used it as a home
base. How - and when - did JPP get to South Bend? Last I knew, he had been
shipped off to Yonge Street, near Toronto Canada in 1833 - I think he went
with his grandmother Mary Jackson and Uncle Josiah Jackson.

Dick Piatt lists 10 children for David and Hannah Jackson Piatt:
Elizabeth - ca 1821 PA
William - ca 1823 m. Susan Roudebush
Joseph Paxton - 1824 PA
A.B. (Abraham Benjamin?) ca 1825-1830
Josiah Jacob - ca1828 PA
Amanda - ca 1830 PA
Harriet - ca1835 OH
Hannah - ca1838 OH
Sarah - ca 1840 OH
Arabella - ca 1842 OH (sometimes spelled Annabella)

I don't know if anyone has traced any of the other children. Dick speculates
that Elizabeth died young.

You've certainly been busy with finding ineresting Piatt tidbits. Just 59
days to go and counting for your school teaching career. Any end of year,
retirement parties planned?
