It seems that there is some confusion regarding the place of Peter P.
Pyeatt's death & burial and regarding whether Peter's son, James P. &
his wife Mahala Neal ever had any children. Since I have photos of his
headstone and the probate records, I thought we might be able to
eliminate some of the confusion if I were to share some of the photos
and documents which indicate that he was living in Jackson Twp., Polk
Co., Missouri at the time of his death.

I also planned to share a photocopy of the census record from the 1860
census for Fayetteville City, Washington County, Arkansas, which showed
James & Mahala with their three children. That document confirmed the
family story, since I descend from their son John Thomas, who appears
there. It, does, however, conflict with the family history published by
the Arkansas Historical Society in the 1940's, but the person who wrote
(or was interviewed) for the history most likely never knew the family
since she was born long after James, like most of Peter P.'s
descendants, had left Washington Co.

Unfortunately, everything bounced back from the Roots-Web list-serv with
a note that their policy only supports documents in "plain text" (as
opposed to HTML or "rich text" formats) and that they also will not
allow attachments.

I plan to send the information, at the very least, to Marianne and to
Robin Bellamy since they have Piatt-Pyeatt websites and will most likely
be the most concerned that their information be accurate. I will,
however, also send copies of these documents to anyone else who might be
interested. The attachments are in a jpeg format. We initially tried
to scan them as Word documents, but found that the file sizes exceeded
1000 KB each, which caused us some concern that not everyone's e-mail
accounts would support such large documents. As jpeg documents, the
largest file is 245 KB.

It might be most efficient if all interested parties were to contact me
directly, and not through the Roots-Web list-serv.
