Subject: [PIATT] 1730 debt of Jacob Pyatt?
Date: Wed, 07 Jan 2004 23:08:25 +0000

I was browsing the Paxton forum at genforum and put in a search for Pyatt.
Surprisingly there was a hit in a very lengthy posting concerning families in
Dorchester Co MD. I have included the link here. Copy and paste into your
browser if the link doesn't work, making sure that the link is unbroken
through "html".

Perhaps someone can comment on why Jacob Pyatt's name is in this inventory.
Did he owe 200? Or was he owed that amount by the deceased? I have
capitalized Jacob's name so it may be found more easily near the end of the
listing.

Present day Dorchester Co MD is far south on the eastern shore. Was
Dorchester larger, extending farther north in 1730? If not and if 1730
boundaries were close to present day, this would put Jacob Pyatt much farther
south than I have previously known him to be.

What significance can be placed on the phrases "'indian' corn," and "jobs"?
