In following up on the link posted by John Keilch as a source for the information on WILLIAM PIATT FLESHER, I found that he was the son of JOHN FLESHER JR and FRANCES JANE ECKLES. John Jr and Frances Eckles were married in McClean Co IL on 20 May 1849. Frances had been born in Ohio about 1818.

In checking the Piatt Family Newsletter for Eckles I found that MARGARET PIATT married JOHN GRAHAM ECKLES in 1807. By 1850 John Graham and Margaret Piatt Eckles were in McClean Co IL.

John Graham and Margaret Piatt Eckles had at least 9 children beginning in 1808 but there is no daughter named FRANCES JANE. There was a JANE ELLEN, however. Information on these children is sketchy, but the circumstances are compelling enough to pursue finding the marriage record for John Flesher Jr and Frances Jane Eckles in McClean Co IL with the thought that she would be the daughter of Margaret Piatt and John Graham Eckles.

Yes, John K has a good idea to compile a list of all known persons with Piatt/Pyatt as a given or middle name. Such usage should almost always imply a connection to the Piatt families.
