So I have established that my John S Pyatt's wife Mary Snyder was a sister
to the wife of John's Brother William Jnr. as follows:

John S and William Jr sons of William and Mary Smith Pyatt
Mary and Lucinda Snyder, daughters of Thomas and Elizabeth Buttler Snyder.
(Roane County, VA 1860 Census)

Both couples were married in Mason County, VA in the mid 1860's.

So Im following this William Junior line to see if I can figure out why they
came to Western WV from Nicholas County.

1860 Roane County Census (Jackson county is next door, Mason borders
Jackson as well)
Thomas Snyder household with the girls present
Next house is George PEAT and wife Jane (no children). George is 25 and
born VA (Est b. 1834) which is interesting given that John S and William Jr
have a brother George b 1835. These households are in Leroy, which is on
the border of Jackson and Roane Counties and very near what I knew as my
family farm'. For reference to those of you who are working this line,
Leroy is on the east end of the road that passes the cemetery where John and
Mary (snyder) Pyatt and John and Mary (truax) Piatt are all buried.

HOWEVER I do not have a wife named Jane for George and the wife during that
period appears to be Elizabeth.

No Pyatts of any spelling appear in the 1870 Roane County Census and the
Thomas Snyder family is also not present.

Anyone else have Roane County connections? Ideas on this George Peat?

Thanks,
Robin
