Hi Robin,
I can tell you a bit more on the two William Piatts you mention.

William Piatt, son of Daniel and Catharine (Sherrard) Piatt, was born
3/11/1773 in Pluckemin, NJ and died unmarried 8/16/1834. He basically served his
life as a military man eventually obtaining the rank of Major the same as his
father Daniel.

William A. Piatt was born in 1811 in Boone Co., Ky. and died in 1900. After
he moved to Cumberland, Allegany Co., MD he became mayor on 5/8/1871. He
later became Judge of the Orphan Court 1877-1879 at this place.
He first married 8/2/1832 to Mary Louise (Satterly) Satterlee born 1814 and
they had two known children Arthur and Elizabeth while living in Covington,
Fountain Co., IN.
William married secondly 6/30/1845 to Mary Louise Hoblitzell and they had
known children Charles C.; Paul A.; Sallie and Harry.
