You are the answer to my prayers. I am researching the OTHER Jackson County
John and Mary Pyatt, and have run against many blocks on yours.
I do have some on another Lorenzo Piatt. This one was born in 1850 and lived
in Wetzel County, WV in 1880. I do not know who his parents are, but I have
a wife (Margaret Duke) and three children (John, Mary, and George Albert). I
have yet another Lorenzo Born just few years before yours who married a
Lillia. I have two children for them, both born in Indiana. I have no
parents for this one either.
Most of our conversation will be here on the list because both our John/Mary
families need more discussion in the archives. If you havent already been,
pop over to www.piattresearchers.net and see what I have already put up.
This is all the information I have about Piatts. It's growing exponentially
but your line definitely needs filled in. If you have a gedcom to share
that would be great!
I am going to Ravenswood in Mid-September and hope to come back with some
answers. I will certainly share them!
Benjamin Piatt and Mary Truax? This is a new combination to me (from the
second obit). If correct, that sure complicates things.
My quest of late has been to discover why your John moved so close to my
John. And the burials...holy cow. My Mary is buried near Your John and my
John is further down the road in an unmarked grave. This is further
complicated by the fact that the church and cemetery are some distance from
the homeplaces. Both Johns were living near the Wood County line to the
north, while the church is not far from Ripley. Confusing.
Keep in touch, as will I. And welcome aboard!
Robin

I have this one picture of my great grandmother a year before her death
posted on Monroe County's Site:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohmccogs/RebeccaPiattAllen.htm
Here are the obits that confirm some of what you have sent me: (BUT there is
a bit of confusion, Lorenz and Lorenzo--- were they two different people---I
am really beginning to think they may have been because the parents are
different OR since Lorenz/Lorenzo was the baby did Mary Piatt remarry after
the death of John?) I know for fact Simon Piatt is my relation; as Harley
was my Uncle. Also note in Lorenzo's obit that the name Briggs shows up but
not Bessie (could this have been a nickname?)
PLEASE let me know how I can get a copy of this Volume 9 Piatt Family
Newsletter, 1994. I would really love to have it.
