I will try to post my findings in a timely manner, but the house just
sold & I will be moving at the end of the month, so please be patient
with me.

Okay, we've got another John PEAT who died apparently died in
Charleston, SC in 1778. At this point in time, I haven't the slightest
clue who this guy is, so anything is possible. The only conclusion that
I have drawn is that this is most likely NOT the same as the John PYATT
(PYEATT) who married Martha Jane BLAIR, established his family in
Guilford County, North Carolina and who also died around 1778. As much
as anything, my conclusion is based upon the fact that this John only
mentions Ann as his daughter-and I cannot imagine my own ancestor
ignoring even one of his minor aged children. John PYATT of North
Carolina had children, Peter, Jane, Jacob, James and Martha. Jacob was
about 18 in 1778, James was only 10 and Martha even younger.

The handwritten record of his will is recorded in Charleston, SC Will
Book 1774-1779, p. 611. A typescript version of this book is available
with the reference, Wills Charleston County Will Book 1793-1779 [sic,
actually covers the years 1774-1779]. Another reference is volume or
book 17.

His will was dated 17 February 1778 and the typescript version did not
give a date for it having been approved. The body of the will reads:
