I was working on this family for my mother-in-law, Joseph J. Piatt's great granddaughter, when she passed away last winter. Now her sisters have asked me to continue the research.

I already have a lot of information on this family, but am particularly interested in a post to this board in January about a Samuel Harrod Piatt album that was offered on EBay. If the purchaser is out there, please contact me and I would love to exchange information. I would also like to hear from others who are working on this line.

Winnie Piatt was Joseph's youngest daughter, but was "adopted" by another family in Logan County (IL) when her mother, Emily J. Allen Piatt, died (when Winnie was an infant). Two of her brothers -- Herman and Harry -- were taken in by cousins, Harry (Samuel Harrod) and Eliza Piatt. Samuel Harrod's parents, John and Mary Harrod Piatt, are buried in the same burial ground as his brother, Joseph S. My mother-in-law visited the IL Piatts many times when she was young, and also maintained a relationship with Lottie Piatt, Herman's first wife.
