Deb contacted me directly, too, and I thought the number of similarities between her Flatt line and our Piatts was remarkable. They were in the same places using the same given names. And when I looked at Deb's website:

and saw that she considers Van Vliet to be a variation of the Flatt surname I was hopeful that we might find a connection--a stray Piatt taking the VanVliet>>Flatt name. Unfortunately the science says "No."

Of the several participants in the Flatt DNA study, no one comes closer than a 6/12 match and that is not a match. Interesting that many of the Flatt DNA participants are not R1b haplogroup which would be the first requirement to matching the majority of our particpants.
