Yes, Laverne, you did read that correctly. There is also the record of
a John PYATT, of Prince Frederick Parish, Craven Co., who married Hannah
LABRUCE of Prince George Parish, who married 28 March 1744 (the license
appears to have been issued 23 Feb 1743/4). I assume that these are two
separate John's, most likely father & son. According to the Marriage
Settlements in the South Carolina Archives, here is the information
about the two marriages
John PYATT, of Waccamaw, SC married Elizabeth LABRUCE, "of same" 29
December 1780. Joseph Alston & Thomas Butler were the trustees; David
Graham & Edwd Drake were the witnesses. ("Marriage Settlements" vol. 6,
pp. 166-169, a series found in the South Carolina Archives)
William ALSTON of Georgetown, physician, married Mary PYATT, daughter of
the later John PYATT, Esqr. Decd & his wife Elizabeth, sister of Thomas
LABRUCE, 1 February 1800. John LABRUCE & Benjamin ALLSTON Sr., Esqr.,
were the trustees; Rd. Brownfield, Danl DuPre, and Josias Allston were
the witnesses. ("Marriage Settlements" set 3, pp. 429-434, a series
found in the South Carolina Archives)
