In working a timeline for my two John and Marys, I ran across this:

1880 Census, German Twp, Darke Co, OH
Listed as household # 284
Puterpaugh, Abraham 58 b. PA
Martha A 31 b OH (listed as a wife, not a daughter)
Abraham, Elizabeth, Barbara. Johnnie, Lilly and Pearl as children
Also in the household Elizabeth PIATT age 73 born PA and no relationship or
occupation listed, and William Owens age 31 (Laborer)

Next door in household #285
John PIATT 38
Elizabeth 31
Dora 14
Lilly 12
Luella 8
John 6
Mary Jane 4
William 10/12

And in household #286
George and Belle Puterpaugh with two young children.

So we can assume some sort of relationship between these Piatts and these
Puterpaughs. The only Puterbaugh I find in my database are Ellen and Mary,
Mary being the wife of yet another John Piatt.

Can somebody untangle this for me?
