The Piatt Family Newsletter does not have much on Piatts who lived in Poplar Bluff, Butler Co MO. Volume 9 lists three census readings:
1920 Butler Co MO
PIATT
Jacob, b 1875, IN
Allie, b 1822, KY
Elijah, b 1904, MO
Roy, b 1906, MO
Lorene V, b 1915, MO
Twenty years earlier Jacob Piatt was a farm laborer boarding with Noba Lynn in Poplar Bluff township, Butler Co MO.
Searching for a Jacob Piatt born in IN in 1875 turned up this:
1880 Floyd Co IN, New Albany Twp.
PIATT
Joseph, 27, KY, Scotland, France
Mary, wife, 26, Switz, Switz, Switz
Jacob, son, 5, IN, KY, Switz
Daniel, son, 3, IN, KY, Switz
plus three boarders all working in woolen mills
Census would indicate that this Joseph Piatt was a separate immigration from the line of Rene Piatt who was in NJ by 1680. If a living male descendant of Joseph Piatt were willing to participate in our Piatt Surname DNA study we could determine whether this line of Joseph is closely connected to the NJ Piatts.
