Researchers at the recent Piatt conference in Salt Lake decided that there are still unanswered questions about early New Jersey and, so, decided to try to schedule the 2006 conference at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown PA. We have been to Doylestown twice before. The location offers access to New Jersey research sites without much trouble. (NJ insurance requirements have prevented us from actually being able to schedule a site in New Jersey and Delaware Valley College has treated us very well.)

Delaware Valley College can offer us the week of June 18-24, 2006 or the week of June 25-July 1, 2005. I have no preference as to which week.

The new dormitory is ready but the rates are higher than we have paid before. A single would be $50 per person per night and a double would be $40 per person per night requiring a couple to pay $80 per night. The rooms are all suites with private bathroom in the suite and 2 or 4 people per suite. The dorm is air conditioned. However, I failed to ask if sheets and towels come with these higher rates!

Rates for meals would be $3.40 for breakfast, $4.50 for lunch; and $6.25 for dinner. These rates are expected to rise a bit for next year. Levin Dining Room would be set aside for us as it was before I believe. In the past we took only breakfast at the college as we were "in the field" the rest of the days.

What I would like to know from those who think they will be able to attend in 2006 is your preference for which week. We would need to lock in the week by the end of summer. And also I would like your opinion on using the new dorm with the published rates or whether I should inquire if the old dorm is available. I have no preference abut the dorm.

You may send your response to the list or, if you wish, you may e-mail me directly at:
