How wonderful that nearly 60 years of Piatt family papers have turned up and come into the hands of those who will preserve them. You might search the PIATT-L list archives at Rootsweb.com for information about this branch of the family. This link might work:

Briefly, we feel the ancestry of this line of Piatts is:
Rene Piatt and Elizabeth Sheffield (NJ)
.Jacob Piatt and Mary Hull (NJ, he to PA)
..John Piatt and Frances Van Vliet (the widow Wyckoff) (NJ)
...Abraham Piatt and Annabelle Andrew (NJ, PA, she to OH)
....James Andrew Piatt and Jemima Ford (PA, IL)
While documentation in the first three generations is not solid, our Piatt Surname DNA Study reveals that Abraham Piatt was closely related to descendants of Jacob and Mary Hull Piatt. Therefore, we feel that this lineage is likely correct for this line.
