The Piatt Surname Study DNA results will be posted on a website hosted at Family Tree DNA soon, I hope. However, it is a work in progress and not quite ready for prime time. In the meantime I'd like to share some of the DNA results with the list:

Twelve participants match each other 25/25. This match means that these 12 individuals share a common ancestor within the past several generations. Because of other research we believe the ancestor to be Rene Piatt of New Jersey. But the DNA results show only numbers--not given names, of course.

The earliest known ancestors and/or pivotal ancestor in the lineage of these 12 individuals are:

Benjamin and Ann Carter Piatt of Bartholomew Co IN
Daniel and Asseneith Knox Piatt of NY

Benjamin and Hannah Bowlby Piatt of NJ
Jacob and Jean Paul (2nd wife) Piatt of PA (descendant comes through Arkansas line of Pyeatts)

Benjamin and Sarah Donahue Piatt of VA, OH, IN
Abraham and Annabelle Andrew Piatt of PA (he the son of John "of France")

Amos and Julianna Engle Piatt of PA
Charles and Elizabeth Rose Piatt of NY (he son of Elijah?)

John and Rebecca ____ Piatt of Montgomery Co OH
William and Hannah Tindall Piatt of NJ, IN

Phillip (de la) Piatt of NY
John Piatt of MO in 1790

While all the results are important, of particular interest are those which indicate that the Arkansas line of Pyeatts share a common ancestor with the Piatts of Path Valley PA and the recent results which showthat the descendant of the son of John "of France" to share a common ancestor with all the others listed here.

Coming in at 24/25 matches to the majority are descendants of:

Jacob and Mary Hull Piatt of NJ, PA (he presumably the eldest son of Rene Piatt)
William and Mary Smith Peatt of WV

John Piatt of MO by 1790
Benjamin and Mary Waddell Piatt of OH (he presumably the great-grandson of Jacob and Mary Hull Piatt)

I hope to have the public page up by the end of the week. Other participants' results not mentioned here will be included on the public page. The numbers will also appear allowing all of us to see how some branching of the lines is shown by the numbers.
