Just came across a reference that adds another interesting twist to our
discussion of PYEATT, PYATT, and PYOTT names in the Carolinas. It can
be found in volume 2 of the title, Directory of Scots in the Carolinas,
1680-1830, by David Dobson. (Baltimore, MD: Clearfield Publishing, 2004;
v. 1 published in 1986).

On page 132, the following entry appears:

"PYOTT, Thomas, born in Angus, settled in New Berne, NC, as a flour
merchant and baker, a Loyalist in 1776, moved to London in 1777.
[PRO.AO13.123.48]"

According to volume 1, PRO is the acronym used in this book for the
Public Record Office in London. I assume that the AO13... part of the
number is some sort of record number.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
