Yes, there were separate branches of Pyotts/Pyatts in Roane Co TN and WV. Your branch from John Pyott of Loudoun Co VA went to Rhea, Roane, Grainger, and Hamlen Counties in TN at least. Some went on into TX after the Civil War. The WV Pyatts are from William and Mary Smith Peatt of Nicholas Co WV. DNA confirms that the line of William Pyatt is a match to other lines who feel they descend from Rene. We don't have a participant in the DNA study from the VA/TN Pyotts yet so the link, if any, between that line and the NJ line of Rene Piatt is not yet proven.
