The Piatt Researchers Conference for 2006 will take place June 18-24 at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown PA, in beautiful and historic Bucks Co. Regular attendees will remember that we have been there twice before and found it to be a site well placed for researching the state archives of New Jersey in Trenton and several important genealogical repositories in Philadelphia.
I have requested that we check in beginning at 2 pm on Sunday June 18 and that we have until noon on Saturday June 24 to check out. We will staying in Cooke Hall. This is the same dormitory where we stayed before. We will have the opportunity to take breakfast from the line in the dining hall and we will sit together in the faculty dining room.
Rates are $20 per person per night for double occupancy, and $30 per person per night for a single room. The cost of breakfast is yet to be determined but will be $3.50 per person per day if there are other groups on campus at the same time or will be $5.50 per person if we are the only group.
The only drawback to using DVC is that we must provide our own bedding, pillows, and towels. The college has none available for rent. For most of us this will not be a problem. And those of us who live close and who will be driving can provide extra linens for those who might be flying. Just let me know what you might need. As I recall, Cooke Hall is not air-conditioned and fans are permitted.
Several research facilities are accessible from Doylestown including:
-several PA county courthouses and historical societies
-Genealogical Society of PA in Philadelphia
-Historical Society of PA in Philadelphia
-The Library Company of Philadelphia (the repository of rare books of HSP)
-The Presbyterian Historical Society in Philadelphia
-The David Library of the Revolution in Washington Crossing, PA
-The New Jersey State Archives in Trenton
-The New Jersey State Library in Trenton
-courthouses and historical societies in Middlesex, Somerset, Hunterdon, Warren and Monmouth Counties NJ
-The Alexander Library at Rutgers University in New Brunswick NJ
-The Historical Society of NJ in Newark
-and cemeteries everywhere
If anyone would be flying and needing transportation to Doylestown, the college is served by a line of SEPTA (Southeast PA Transit Authority) from the airport or I can pick up guests at the airport in Philadelphia. (The SEPTA line from Philadelphia to Doylestown is the one we used to travel to Philadelphia for research in the past.)
Further information on the college can be seen at

Maps can be printed from (Doylestown zip is 18901):

Many of the research sites maintain websites which can be found with a Google search. Some charge a research fee which would be noted on their websites.
We hope to see many of you at Doylestown in June. As soon as you know you will be able to join us please e-mail me at:
I will need to give the college a final room count later in the spring. No deposit is necessary so no advanced payment will be required of anyone.
The PIATT-L list is the main method of communicating the details of the 2006 Piatt Conference. If you know of anyone who might be interested in attending and who is not on the list, please feel free to forward this message to them.
