Hi Listers--
After a VERY VERY long time the database at www.piattresearchers.net has
been updated. For those of you new to this resource please remember that
the database is user submitted--I do not have notes or information on the
people in the database. Also, If you don't find your line or you have
additions and corrections PLEASE send them to me at
net or
Also I have added tombstone photos of the grave of Thomas and Alcinda Piatt
of Jackson County, WV, sent to me by a maternal cousin--not even a direct
Pyatt relative!
Laverne's recent DNA posting has been added to the DNA page.
We also welcome aboard John Friedman who has contributed his lineage and
verified for listing in the Flower Children section (direct descendents of
Rene Piatt)
I have recieved word that I will lose the webspace for this project by the
end of 2006 (it had been donated free of charge for many years) so will have
to look for someplace to put all the files. When I find it it likely won't
be free so you can expect to find me soliciting for donations sometime this
year *grin* I don't anticipate it costing all that much, but as you know
this is an expensive hobby--the added cost makes my hubby frown. More on
that as time draws nearer.
Ive spent the last three years working for an organization called PSICAN
(Paranormal Studies and Investigations Canada) doing scientific research and
experiments involving paranormal events. This has opened many doors for me
and I am grateful for the experience, but have found it's time to move on so
am likely back to my gen research for awhile. I also write a column for YYZ
Lifestyle Magazine on Toronto Urban Myths and Legends and I have a cookbook
(with ghost stories) called Haunt Cuisine coming out probably the end of
February.
I don't know yet if I will make it to the conference in Doylestown--my son
is in school through the end of June, but the information on the conference
is on piattresearchers.net and Im hoping to work out a trip south to see all
my wonderful cousins!
Genealogically speaking, my dad does not match the DNA for Piatts--in fact
it looks like none of John S Pyatt (b 1840 Nicholas County) offspring match
the Piatt DNA. While this presents a seemingly unsurmountable challenge, I
have had the opportunity to work with two other individuals by the names of
Brown and Williams. It would seem at first look that the father of John S
Pyatt may have been named Brown. Research continues...
Thanks so much to everyone who has answered my queries and helped. You
folks are amazing.
Robin

it."
