Dick,
Hope you enjoyed your winter vacation ; ) It sounds like you've been doing your homework ... for over 40 years!! Most of what you listed below is for the most part documented on my side. However, it sounds like you have a wealth of information just waiting for me to tap into!!
The article I spoke of is the same as you mentioned below ... The three page article in the Biographical Record of Northeastern Pennsylvania. I only have an old typed out version of it on hand. My father remembers seeing the hand written version when he was a teenager. Unfortunately we do not know who possesses it now.
The Reilly family name was introduced via "Ellen Jane Reilly Piatt", Wife of James Albert Piatt (1851-1930) who was Son of James Piatt (1824-1918).
My Dad's Sister "Ellen Jane Piatt McMichael is named after her". Boy do we like to recycle names in this family!!!
My Grandfather Bernard Joseph Piatt died in February of 1985 to cancer. It was his Sister, Hazel Marie Piatt Gambill (1915-2005), who was the last of her generation and recently passed away in 2005.
Albert Bernard Piatt (1890-1934) My G-Grandfather; died when my Grandfather was only 19 from injuries sustained from a car accident.
Edith Laura McMinn (1880-1970) "Mrs. James Francis Piatt" was known to the oldest current living generation as Aunt Edith. She died on Good Friday 1970 at the age of 90 years old. Dad says she had to go down stairs backwards using a walker ; )
I have a million Questions to ask of course, so I will start with some of the information you have enlightened me on via this email:
James Francis Piatt (1876-1964) was buried in Richmond, VA. Do you know if he too is buried in the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA.?
James Weldon Piatt (1900-1987) - I was not aware that he was buried in Richmond, VA. The last recorded address I have for him is in Kinston, NC.
He lived in many cities along the eastern coast of NC throughout his life ... Goldsboro, Fayetteville, and Moorehead City to name a few.
I believe his wife's name was Eveyln Leviter (1905-1994), but do not know for sure. Do you have his Wife's information on file?
I also do not have information about him being a "Jr".
Marcus Francis Piatt (1941) Son of James Weldon. I've received a few leads to his location via PIATT-L, I haven't as of yet tracked him down. I believe he has a son by the same name but with "Jr" added too. His son would be about 37 years old by now.
Let me know if I should email you direct, or work through PIATT-L on all the tid-bits going forward. I could send updates to PIATT-L on occasion documenting everything we discussed from time to time.
Thanks!!

Hi Eddie,
I am now back to my PA home from my FL home where we winter. As promised, I briefly checked my records to see what I could tell you to get you further along on your family line of research. My third great grandfather Isaiah PIATT and your fifth great grandfather Asa PIATT were the sons of Philip PIATT.
Your third great grandfather James PIATT (1824-1918) purchased a 210 acre farm in 1858 near South Canaan, Wayne County, PA. In the 1960's this farm was still in the family, owned by James REILLY. I had visited here about six times getting Piatt family data. It was a beautiful area and a well kept farm which started with your third great grandfather.
In your email to this list on 1/03/2006 you stated that your third great grandfather James wrote a three page article detailing facts on his family. I imagine this was the article that was printed in the Commemorative Biographical Record of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Am I correct in assuming this is the article? If it is, then that is great that you have a handwritten article by your third great grandfather.
You also state that a relative who died about 2005 was your last oldest relative. I assume this was Bernard Joseph Piatt, your grandfather. Am I correct in assuming this fact?
I had corresponded in the 1960's and visited many in the line of ASA PIATT. your family. One of the earliest was Mrs. James Francis (Edith Laura McMinn), wife of James Francis PIATT, your great great great aunt and different ones in their family.
James Weldon PIATT Jr. was buried in the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA.
Another, was the Albert Bernard PIATT family, your great grandfather from Mullins, SC.
Another was Bernard Joseph PIATT, your grandfather who lived at 2107 Kirkwood Dr., Salisbury, NC
Therefore, if you want to send me some questions on your family, I will reply to you.
Thank you.
Richard O. Piatt, PA
