ok Dick, Im officially lost....lets take this a step at a time

Dick: This person is another one of those confusing issues, however, my
thoughts
are this family is not to be confused with James PIATT, born 1734, married
secondly to Zena KING.

Robin: I don't have any Zena King--is this James who was son of James and
Ruth Drake Piatt? I have one wife for him named Eliza (no last name) and no
children listed.

Dick: We have, Rene PIATT who had son Thomas PIATT (1681-1706/07) married
to Mercy
HULL. Mercy married secondly Rev. Benjamin STELLE.
Thomas and Mercy PIATT is listed as having five children, but I only know of
four; Mercy married to Ephraim DRAKE,

Robin: DId this Mercy also marry John Dunham?

Dick: Mary married to Eliphalet JONES, James
married to Ruth DRAKE, and Samuel married to Elsie PERIGO.
Here's where the confusion starts. Samuel PIATT had to have been married
first to an unknown wife, then married secondly to Elsie PERIGO. Samuel and
Elsie PERIGO in most records only have the three children; Joshua
born 1737, Elizabeth born 1739, and Abigail born 1741. I disagree with this
and am confident that Samuel and Elsie had another son JAMES PIATT,

Robin: Your Elsie and my Alice are the same. I show no James for this
family, but I do have a John, Born to early to be Elsie's, who married
Deborah Brunson. Is my John connected to the wrong parents?

Dick: born 1734, married to Martha WILLIS, probably the daughter of
Jonathan WILLIS. Martha
had a brother William WILLIS.

Robin: I have a Martha Ann Willis, but she is married to John Hopper Piatt
b 1781 who was the son of Capt Jacob and Hannah Cook McCullough. The only
James Piatt b 1734 I have was married to Elizabeth Steele and was son of
James and Ruth Drake Piatt.

Dick: Martha WILLIS was first married to a Mr. KING.

Robin: Any more info on this would be much appreciated as I have nothing
here. I have several Piatt/King marriages but no Willis/King ones

Dick: James and Martha Piatt had a son Samuel married to Elizabeth BROWN.
Samuel and Elizabeth Brown Piatt had a son Daniel PIATT married to Elizabeth
WILLIS.

Robin: I do have an unlinked Samuel Piatt married to an Elisabeth Brown.
They married 27 Apr 1797 in Salem County, NJ. I show one son for them,
William M, who married Margaret Edwards 24 Oct 1817 in Salem County, NJ. I
have several Daniel Piatts that need linked to parents--do you have more
info on Daniel the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Brown Piatt?

Thanks so much for your help. Every time I am able to make a match in the
database (or clear up something connected incorrectly) I feel like we are
one step closer to finding my William's parents.

I am particularly interested in Piatt/Brown connections in 1840 and earlier,
as my father's DNA test links him to at least one Brown (and no Piatts
before 1840)

Thanks again,
Robin
