Your questions 1& 4 - You are correct regarding John Hopper Piatt. You
state James Pyatt married to Elizabeth STEELE. Correct is Elizabeth STELLE.
James, 1734-1800, son of James and Ruth (DRAKE) PYATT, first married
Elizabeth STELLE (1742-1780) and secondly married Mary Magdalena (Lena) KING in
1782. Mary Magdalena KING was first married to Peter MOELICH (MELLICK) who died
in 1779. It was thought the King/Mellick marriage had children and it has
been questionable if these children assumed the name PYATT.
2. Mercy PYATT married Ephraim DRAKE and thought secondly to John DUNHAM.
3. John PYOTT married Deborah BRUNSON and was NOT THE SON of Samuel and
Elsie Alice (PERRIGO) PYATT. Samuel was born 1705/06, Elsie was born 1707 and
John was born 1712/13. It is still unknown who the parents of John could have
been.
5 & 6. I have a William M. PIATT married to Margaret EDWARDS 10/1867, not
1817. It is assumed he was a son of Samuel and a brother to Daniel, both
being sons of Samuel and Elizabeth (BROWN) PIATT.
This is from research I did back in the early 1960's. I did not do much
research on the Brown, Willis, King, etc families but not finding much on the
Piatt family, I assumed the family must have moved on. Maybe this is where
some may have traveled to Virginia?
