Awaiting any further details about Civil War John Piatt's. My husband's ancestor, John Nelson Piatt, son of William & Mary Keen Piatt, is buried at Rock Hill Cemetary, Belmont Co., Ohio and has a GAR marker on his grave. I can find no record of his having served in the Civil War - hisDOB Sep 1850; d. Apr 1930. Because of his youth at time of conflict (although some did serve at a young age) I am wondering if placement of the marker was a mistake. Is there a trail to find out who placed the marker and the evidence supporting placement? Thanks Carolyn Bussell Piatt
