Marion Co OH:
WILLIAM PAINE and ELIZA PYATT received a marriage license on 5 Mar 1842, and "I do certify that on the 10th day of March 1842 by virtue of a license from the clerk of the court of common pleas of Marion Co, WILLIAM PAINE and ELIZA PYATT were legally joined in marriage by me, Justice of the Peace in and for the said county. George Court, JPeace" Recorded 15 Mar 1842. Vol 2, page 278.
The 1850 census shows a family which could be this one. If so, there may be clues to the Paine family in the listing of neighbors:
1850 OH, Marion Co, Prospect Twp
Family 235/237
PAINE
William, 36, farmer, OH
Eliza, 34, OH
Angelina, 7, OH
William C, 5, OH
Martina J, 2, OH
Family 236/238
PAINE
Debroh, 60, born Delaware
Nancy, 20, OH
WEAVER
Sarah, 30, OH
Benjamin, 9, OH
Nancy, 7, OH
SHERMAN
Wilson, 3, OH
WEAVER
Sarah, 15, OH
The listing of the second family is confusing as to how many surnames are really there. Is the 3 year old Wilson SHERMAN or Wilson Sherman WEAVER?
Parents of ELIZA PYATT were married in Muskingum Co OH:
29 June 1813, STEPHEN PEATT and MARY McCONNELL, by Joseph Tharp. Muskingum Co OH Marriage Book 1. This marriage makes descendants of this couple eligible for membership in First Families of Ohio.
