Volume 6 of the Piatt Family Newsletter (1991) gives this family group:

10. Mary Lora, b 1874
11. George Franklin, b 14 Jul 1876; m 10 Oct 1898, Adams Co OH to Rozella Piatt
The 1880 census for this family shows:
Horatio, 51
Anna, 46
Henry L, 25
Wm B, 22
David C, 18
John V, 16
Frank, 14
Mary Alice, 12
Lizzie A, 10
Mary Lora, 4
Comparing the lists of children:
James J, at 27, was likely on his own.
Henry Lewis, 25, with the family in 1880
William B, 22, with the family in 1880
Martha, at 21, likely married
David C, 18, with the family in 1880
John V, 16, with the family in 1880
FRANK, aged 14 in 1880 census, but not in family group list
Sarah, not in census, should be 14--deceased? working "out"? or mis-listed?
Mary Alice, 12, with family in 1880
Lizzie A, 10, with family in 1880
Mary Lora, 4, with family in 1880, but age is incorrect according to FG
GEORGE FRANKLIN, should be aged 4, missing from census
It's not uncommon to call a child by his middle name--Frank for George Franklin. And with the discrepencies in the census, I'm wondering if the census taker just didn't mess up here with multiple errors--a mis-named 14 year old, a wrong age on Mary Lora, and omission of 4-year old Frank because he had already listed a Frank and a 4-year old. The census on this page was taken on two days.
Contributors to this issue of Volume 6 of PFN with Adams County origins were David D Piatt of Stout OH and James D Piatt of FL. James is deceased. I haven't hear of David for some time.
With the 1898 marriage of George Franklin Piatt I would suggest writing to the Probate Court for a copy of the application. In other counties by 1898 there was much information contained in a marriage application. Perhaps George Franklin's parents were named therein.
As to Rosella, her name in PFN is listed as Piatt, but there is no further information as to whether she was born a Piatt or was born a Pence and had married another Piatt before marrying George Franklin. Again, such information might be in the application.
If George Franklin Piatt is the man you seek and is also the son of Horatio Piatt his lineage from the immigrant ancestor should be:
Rene Piatt and Elizabeth Sheffield (NJ)
..Jacob Piatt I and Mary Hull (NJ to PA)
...Jacob Piatt II and Jean Paul (PA)
....Jacob Piatt III and Elizabeth Dunham (PA)
.....Benjamin Piatt and Polly Waddel (PA to OH)
......John Piatt and Hester Black
.......George Franklin Piatt
There is some question as to whether Benjamin who married Polly Waddel is a son, grandson, or nephew of Jacob III, but he is certainly in the line somewhere. I might add that the Piatt DNA study would welcome a descendant from Adams Co OH through the Benjamin line or through the Lewis Piatt line or both. Males named Piatt would be the only ones qualified but their results would add to our information. The public page can be seen at:
