It has been a long time since I have had any contact with Piatt researchers, and I hope this address is valid. In case anyone is interested in this branch of the Piatt family, I would like to advise you that I finally visited Bellview, Ky (also known as Bellview Bottoms and Grant in Boone Co., KY) again and this time was able to locate the house built by Dr. Louis H. Piatt, husband of Josephine Ryle.

This small house Dr. Piatt built after graduation from Ohio Medical College in Cincinnati in 1876 is still intact and a few years ago was bought by a young couple who live there. The house is located on Kentucky route 18 west of Burlington, KY. It is noted as a scenic route on the Boone County Heritage Map. Heading west from Burlington on route 18, route 20 dead-ends just before route 18 reaches the Ohio River. Immediately past that intersection route 18 makes a 90 degree turn to the left (south). There is a store on the right and then the cemetery where the Piatts are buried. Route 18 immediately makes a right turn around the cemetery and within a short block turns back to the left. The first house on the left is the house Dr. Piatt built. Some years ago fire destroyed the small one room office in the yard where he practiced medicine.

Continuing south on route 18, there is a sign for Rabbit Hash, KY, where the Piatt family once owned the ferry across the Ohio to Rising Sun, Indiana. The Victoria Casino is now located on the Indiana side directly across from Rabitt Hash.

I have pictures of Dr. Louis, his wife and only daughter if anyone is interested.
