JoAnn Coleman Rabb

On Feb. 25, 1968 in Grapeland, a daughter was born to the last Daisy M. Coleman and Ruby L. Turner whom they named JoAnn. JoAnn was a 1986 graduate of Grapeland High School. She continued her post-secondary studies at Tyler Junior College. She had always had a strong faith in God. She united with the New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Tyler under the leadership of J. E. Curtis. She later joined the New Birth Christian Center in Oakwood where she faithfully served until her health failed. On Sept. 29, 1998 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Timothy R. Rabb and they are surrogate parents of twin girls. She was employed as a correctional officer at the Texas Separtment of Criminial Justice Powledge
Unit. JoAnn was an active avid basketball player and she enjoyed hosting family activities. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, June 21 in Houston.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her mother, Daisy M. Coleman.
Her legacy of love and devotion will forever linger in the hearts of her loving husband, Timothy R. Rabb; their children, Alexandra and Cassandra Breedlove-Rabb of Oakwood; father, Ruby L. Turner of Grapeland; stepfather, Rev. James L. Coleman of Dimebox; and randmother, Mae Lee Mosley of Elkhart; brothers, Edward Coleman of Verona, Ms., James Jr., Russell Coleman of Grapeland, twin brothers, Dr. Joe Al Coleman, Gregory Coleman, James Polk of Houston, Jeffery Coleman of Beaumont, Darold L. Turner of Tyler, and Vincent
Hopper of Minnesota; sisters, Ruth Breedlove and Dorthea Coleman of Richmond, Iantha Coleman and Brenda Faulk of Crockett, Kathy Hazley and Shelia Hall of Palestine, Jackie Taylor of Anniston, Al., Doris Scott of Lufkin, and Gwen Polk of Houston; two special aunts, Ramona Coleman of Grapeland and Owina Johnson of Fairfield; special friends, Reavy Brown of Houston, Charlette Lomax of Dallas, and Kim Jones of Palestine; mother and father-in-law, Mary and Dan Rabb; a host of other relative and friends.

Memorial services for JoAnn were held Sunday, June 24 at 1 p.m. in the First Baptist Church Grapeland. Interment followed in the Golden Gate Cemetery.

Pallbearers were the TDCJ Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Joe Al Coleman, Carl Rabb, Edward Coleman, Danny Rabb, James L. Coleman Jr., Gregory Coleman, Darold Turner, Russell Coleman, Calvin Rabb, Romney Gerald Rabb, Jeffery Coleman, and Vincent Hopper. Barkley Mortuary
