Subject: [REEB-ROOTS-L] LOUISA REEB WERNER
Date: Fri, 2 Jul 1999 00:30:06 EDT
This information will be of interest espiecially to Mike REEB and to Emma
Messinger. I have just received an e-mail from a person who does volunteer
lookups in New Orleans Libraries etc. An obit published by the Daily Picayune
Newspaper on 5 March 1888 page 4, column 6, and again on March 11, 1888, page
4 col. 4 shows that "Louisa Werner nee Louisa REEB age 73 a native of
Dehlingen Ludringer [sic.] died March 4, 1888."
As Mike knows and I have informed both Mike and Emma that had suspected that
this Louisa REEB WERNER was the daughter of Friedrich REEB and Louisa WEBER
of Dehlingen, who was born 6 Sep 1814 in Dehlingen. Now we have the proof
that she was indeed the person I said she was. I had suggested that if we
had the obit. for her as well as one for a Christine REEB Sonnemeyer who also
died in New Orleans...then perhaps something just might be mentioned in one
of their obits naming Elizabeth REEB NOESSER as a surviving sister...but
evidently the obituaries in New Orleans did not often mention the names of
surviving relatives of the deceased. Only part of the proof that I am
looking for has been found, I will keep on until I get the other proof that
we need one way or other.
Also, for Emma Messinger, this person will be looking for the marriage
license for Elizabeth REEB to Nicolaus Noesser...we already know it will read
her name as "RAAB" and not REEB. I have also asked her to look for obit for
a couple of other Elizabeth's nee REEBS in New Orleans...one being Elizabeth
WAGNER, born 1823 and also one for Elizabeth Schuler born in Rhein-Pfalz.
