Welcome Ted Krieger:

and where have the Zutzendorf REEB descendants on this list all gone to?
Mike, Nancy Plowman and espiecially Ray, who is also a descendant of Johann
Theobald REEB and Elisabetha Margaretha Hanns, please welcome Ted to the
list, Please!

Also Don Reed of Ontario if you are still on the list, I am curious to know
if you might have something further on Margaretha REEB, daughter of Theobald.
She was born 16 Jan 1823. I show her but I have nothing later for her than
the date of birth in Zutzendorf. I know she was the third daughter given the
name of Margaretha; the other two were: Margaretha born 21 Nov 1818 and died
23 Dec 1818 and then Margaretha born 21 Nov 1821 also, I assume died thus
they named the third Margaretha who was born 16 Jan 1823.

I have checked a photocopy of the History of Welland County and the
biographical sketch on John Reeb, who came with his parents John Theobald and
Elisabeth Hanns Reeb to America in 1848. This sketch does state that other
members who also came were his brother George and sister MARGARET, and that
two other brothers had come previously, Michael and Andrew. But this does
not say who Margaret married or any further information on her. I have also
checked copies of correspondance from other Canadian REEB descendants and
none of them mention any further details on Margaret.

Ted, I would like to hear more about your Margaret REEB. Maybe we need to do
some comparing and determine if she is, as I believe she is, the daughter of
Johann Theobald REEB. And you are correct...in Elsass (Alsace) the name
would have been Johann Theobald REEB...sometimes the Theobald was spelled as
Diebold, Diebaud, Diebaut etc. since the d and t are innerchangable. In
French the German name Johannes, or English name John, is Jean.

John V. Reeb
