I have received a lot of helpful information on Margaret REEB in just one
day on this list. Most of it matches well with the information I have,
though there has been one major snag. Here is what I have so far.

The death certificate for my gg-grandmother, Mary Ann (BURGER) KRIEGER
(born 27-Dec-1854, Welland Cnty, ONT; died 20-Dec-1935, Cleveland, OH)
lists her parents as Jacob BURGER (born Germany) and Margaret RIEB (born
Germany)

Census records for North Bertie TWP, Welland Cnty in 1871 show the family
of Jacob BURGER (48yo), Margret (49yo), Mary A (16yo), and other children.
So far, so good. The big snag comes in comparing Don Reed's information on
Margaretha REEB to the census records in 1881. These records (for Bertie
TWP, Welland Cnty) show Jacob BURGHER (58yo) and Margaret (58yo). These
compare favorably with 1871, but Don has Margaretha dying on 1-Apr-1878.
I'm beginning to wonder if my Margaret is a REEB after all. I've not yet
had the chance to look for a marriage certificate for Jacob BURGER, but
I'll do it soon.

Other than that little (big?) detail, most other things match. Margaret's
age in the census records is consistent with Margaretha REEB's birthday of
16-Jan-1823. There is one more inconsistency in the NY ship's passenger
manifest. John Theobald (60yo) arrived in New York on 31-Dec-1847 aboard
the ship Louis Philippe (M237, reel 70, ship 1011) with wife, Margaret
(55yo), sons Georg (24yo) and Johann (15yo), and daughter Margaret (16yo).
The age of daughter Margaret is not consistent with what we know of
Margaretha REEB. Is it possible they switched the ages of Margaretha and
Georg?

Don, I would love to get your information on the REEBs of Ontario. Is it
possible there is another Margaret REEB around? In your death certificate
information, is she listed as REEB or under a married name? Do you know a
good source for marriage records in Welland Cnty between 1848 and 1854 to
look for Jacob BURGER?
