Subject: [REEB-ROOTS-L] Three Georg REEBS in Nebraska (part One)
Date: Sat, 10 Jul 1999 15:11:38 EDT
Nancy:
I am not sure I can devote all the time it will take to type in the
ahnentafels for all three Georg Reebs who immigrated to Nebraska from
Keskastel but at least I will try to give you some of their direct Reeb
lineage. Reeb genealogy in Keskastel can be very confusing when one attempts
to explain the lineage because many Reeb descendants have more than one Reeb
lineage all tracing back to Heinrich Reeb and his wife, Maria Margaretha;
this Heinrich Reeb born circa 1602.
Before I present the lineage of the Georg Reebs I want to give you the
information on the families of their parents...and their siblings since this
plays an important part in helping to better understand the complexities of
the Nebraska Reebs.
This is the family of the eldest Georg REEB (1) who came to Nebraska.
Johann Heinrich REEB born 13 Apr 1821, Keskastel. son of Georg Heinrich Reeb
(1776-1847) and Catharina Christina Reeb (1790-1827). [already you can see a
double Reeb lineage beginning to take place]. He married:
Catharina Moser/Reeb on 17 Apr 1849 in Keskastel. She was born out of
wedlock before her parents married. They were Johann Heinrich REEB (1800-?)
and Catharina Moser (1798- ?). [Again you can see the third REEB lineage
taking place]. So all of their children will have three separate lines of
Reeb ancestry...even if there were no other redundant Reeb
ancestors...Listing their children below but I will not not give all the
further information on all except when there is something about them that is
of interest here:
1. Johann Nicolaus REEB born 1 Jan 1851.
2. Catharina REEB born 6 Oct. 1852.
3. Henry REEB (Nebraska immigrant) born 9 Mar 1854. Married 20 Jan 1880 in
Keskastel to Catharina Bauer. She died in Keskastel and Henry then brought
his two sons Henry (born 1892) and Carl born 1894 to Nebraska.
4. George REEB (Nebraska immigrant) born 9 Mar 1856, married Charlotte REEB,
(also Nebraska immigrant) daughter of Johann Friedrich REEB and Catharina
Magdalena Erlenbach. (note: see the second family group later). Both
immigrated and I believe married in Nebraska. They had five children that I
know of. One who Gail Ferris has met is Sophie REEB Blase. Sophie was born
1 Sep. 1897 and from what I understand is still going strong able to get
around and of very sound mind...and very knowledgable of REEB family history.
Her parents represent both of the two family units of REEBS from Keskastel
who settled in Nebraska and this fact coupled with her age makes her well
known amoung all the REEBS in Nebraska.
5. Johann Adam REEB (Nebraska immigrant) born 6 Feb 1858. Married in U.S. A.
to Anna Zoss. They had four children born in Illinois and Nebraska between
1889 and 1895. I am grateful to the wife of one of their grandsons who sent
me a lot of information including a little book that gave much of their
family history including pictures of family members and Johann Adam and Anna.
6. Caroline REEB born 1 Jan 1860. Married 7 Sep 1886 to Friedrich Heinrich
REEB in Keskastel. (note: more redundant ancestors for their descendants).
They had seven children at least. Three of whom immigrated to Nebraska. The
immigrants were: Friedrich REEB born 7 Nov 1886; Caroline REEB born 28 Dec
1897; and Carl REEB born 18 Aug 1895.
7. Theobald REEB born 18 Jan 1866, died 10 Dec 1868 in Keskastel.
