On p. 664 of *Tennessee Cousins,* Worth S. Ray has shown
Charles, Cornelius and, Townsend as descendants of
"Christopher Robinson of County Durham, England" through
Cornelius Robinson of Northumberland Co., Va. through
Cornelius Robinson of Augusta Co., Va. through Charles
Robinson of Anson Co., NC.
However, Ray's work may not stand up to close scrutiny
as he has identified Charles Robinson of Anson Co. as
the father of Col. Charles Robertson of the Watauga
Settlements, Tennessee when Charles of Anson was
clearly the father of the Charles Robinson who died
in Richmond Co. in 1802.
Col. Charles Robertson's father has been proven to be
Israel Roberson of Granville Co., N.C., and Israel has
also been proven to be the grandfather of Gen. James
Robertson of Nashville, Tenn.
Ray has identified Jonathan Robinson of Isle of Wight
Co., Va. as Gen. Robertson's grandfather which is not
