MELBA L. ROBINSON
MANITO ~ Melba Louise Robinson, 81, of 2220 State Street, Pekin, died at 6:18 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2003 at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center in Pekin. She was formerly of 29956 East Manito Road in Manito.
Born February 17, 1922 in Paducah, Kentucky to Woodrow Wilson and Beulah Sarah Griggs Spraggs, she married Walter Kenneth Robinson on March 23, 1940 in Vienna.
Surviving are her husband of Pekin; one son, Kenneth R. (Susan) Robinson of Emden; two daughters, Joy K. (Richard) Dillow of Pekin and Betsy S. "Pete" (Roy) Koonce of Eureka; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary E. (Ray) Whitehead of Granbury, Texas, Betty J. (Bob) McClintock of Auburn, Flora M. (Howard) Hughes of Big Rock, Tennessee, and Phyllis S. (Geno) Overton of Richland Hills, Texas; and two brothers, Woodrow W. (Ruby) Spraggs of Buncombe and Berry E. "Gene" Spraggs of Pekin.
Her parents preceded her in death.
A homemaker, Mrs. Robinson was a member of Jesus the Way Tabernacle in Bloomington and the Community United Methodist Church in Manito, and its United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking and exercising.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Donald McPheron will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jesus the Way Tabernacle, 502 South Morris, Bloomington, Illinois 61704, Community United Methodist Church, 109 South Washington Street, Manito, Illinois 61546, or the Central Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, 606 West Glen Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61614.
