On 8 Aug. 1996, Martha Irwin posted a query to this list that I have
not seen answered. She was looking for information on a Matthew Stewart,
b. 1720, Scotland, d. 1808, Anson Co., NC

His children included Henry, James, William, Reuben, Sarah, Elizabeth,
Jane.

MY INQUIRY is whether this family can be connected to the William Stewart
who died Nov. 1816 to Jan. 1817 in Anson Co., NC, leaving a will naming
wife Priscilla and children Joseph, John, Isaiah, James, William, Delilah,
Frances and Mary.

I don't remember seeing the name Matthew carried among the descendants
of Isaiah Stewart who moved to Yancey Co. and is the ancestor of the line
on which I am working.
