Subject: Stewart, Hamilton - Surry Co., NC 1790

I am looking for the parents of Hamilton/Hampton/Hambleton Stewart/Stuart (he
couldn't decide) who was living with his wife and children in Surry Co., NC
per the 1790 US census. Actually he is also on NC state census in 1780s.
His wife was Elizabeth ____?, and he may have had a brother Nathaniel. It
is possible that he is the son of David Stewart and Rebecca Hamilton,
although he didn't name children for either as far as has been determined, or
possibly the son of John Stewart and Susannah Fulkerson Bledsoe, a widow.
Hamilton named his first son John C. Stewart, though no Susannah daughters
known. His other children were Abigale, maybe Delilah, Evan A., Anthony,
Nathaniel, Hamilton Jr., Enoch, and Benjamin Bledsoe. Hamilton left Surry Co
and moved to Hawkins Co., TN and later to Franklin Co., TN where he died in
Nov 1832. At least some of his children were in Jackson Co., AL then or
shortly afterward where some remained, and others moved to MO.

Does anyone have any information on Hamilton's parents? Several of us have
been working on this for a number of years and have yet to find any proof of
his parentage.
