1.Rev. David Stuart b. Invernish, Scotland, m. Jane Gibbons, (daughter of Sir
John Gibbons). Rev. died 1749, VA. He descended from the Royal House of
Stuart. He served under his kinsman, James Francis Stuart, "The Pretender",
and in consequence had to flee from Scotland; came to the colony in 1715, and
later returned to England for Holy Orders; returning to the colony, he settled
on the banks of the Potomac river, and was soon chosen Rector of St. Paul's
Parish, and served until his death.
