Hello all,

This is my first posting so please bear with me this time.

My name is Peter Groenink, I am a South African living in Chippenham,
Wiltshire, UK. Genealogy is a big interest of mine and have over a few years
been working the surnames Groenink, Schult & Taylor and have recently added
Stevens.

I was kindly given the address for this mailing because I was trying to trace
a Stevens family from Eastbourne. I wonder if anyone could help me further.

Ernest David Stevens was my Great-grandfather born in Eastbourne in 1872 and
I am trying to trace his ancestors and descendants. His father was Henry
Stevens born in South Barsted, Sussex (b1829), his mother was Sarah, he had a
brother Harry and two sisters Isobel and Emma J. This information I got from
the 1881 British Census. They lived at 67 Tideswell Road, Eastbourne, Sussex.
I would be interested to know when and how he left the UK for South Africa
and of course who went with him and who stayed behind. That is all the info I
have at the moment. Can anyone help me build on to what I already have. Would
love to hear from you. Many thanks.
