Hi Ken,

Newington was part of the County of Surrey up to 1889 when it became part of the County of
London, and came under a local Metropolitan Council, probably Southwark. In 1965 the area
was formed into the London Borough of Southwark.

If you visit the Charles Booth website: http://booth.lse.ac.uk/
it has maps of the parishes in that area in 1898 plus a modern day comparison, (find under
Poverty Maps of London - search).

I cannot help you with your family unfortunately.
