of DAVID BISHOP and ELIZABETH WOLFORD. He was born April 02, 1827 in
Virginia, and died March 02, 1891 in Wyoming County, W.Va..

Notes for GATHA BISHOP:
Information taken from family Bible of Elizabeth Swan Bishop and U.S.
Government military service records.

Grandfather Bishop held the rank of Private and served as a musician with
Company B, 14th Kentucky Infantry, Union Army during the Civil War. Wyoming
County history books incorrectly list him as belonging to the Confederate
14th Kentucky Volunteers.

He enlisted December 10, 1861 at Camp Wallace in Louisa, Kentucky joining
"Captain Wood's 14th Kentucky (Foot) Volunteers".

According to his service record he spent much of the war hospitalized in
Ashland General hospital. He was fortunate to survive his illness. Over
400,000 Civil War soldiers died as a result of disease.

He mustered out of the Army on January 31, 1865. He and Elizabeth moved
to Wyoming County soon afterward. He first appears in W.Va. in the 1870
Census.

He is buried in the Bud Cemetery, Bud, W.Va. His marker reads "Gatha
Bishop, Co.B, 14th Ky Inf."

Elizabeth may be buried in the same cemetery under an unmarked grave. It
is also possible she was buried with other members of the Swan Family in
Kentucky.

Children of ELIZABETH SWAN and GATHA BISHOP are:
i. MARY4 BISHOP, b. February 19, 1854.
ii. DAVID BISHOP, b. October 07, 1855.

Lawrence County, Kentucky in 1870.
