In 1869, some of my ancestors traveled in a wagon train from Jackson Co.,
Indiana to Hempstead Co., Arkansas. The train consisted of about 30
families, according to some articles in a Journal of the Hempstead Co.
Arkansas, Genealogical Society, "Springhill from 1870, Part 3". According to
the accounts, the train left Jackson Co., IN and traveled southward and
passed into Kentucky and crossed the Mississippi at Cairo, IL, and then
traveled through Missouri and through the Ozarks into Arkansas, traveling
through Caddo Gap, Center Point, Washington, and then to Springhill in
Hempstead Co., Arkansas.
The names of some of the families were: Rider, Anderson, Light, Lee, Black,
Charles Middlebrooks
