I have found floppy disks to be the least desirable method of moving data
from one computer to another. Either use a zip disk or a data cable.
Windows 95 & 98 both come with Direct Cable Connection or you can use
Laplink. I find this to be the easiest method. The other method is to use
a zip disk and do not compress the data. You could even just have one
database and run it from the zip disk. It seems to me that invariably when
you use the backup to floppies that every other backup is defective. I also
sent my files in to Wholly Genes and had a sort date added to my NOTE tags
to have the notes come after all the other tags when printing and those sort
dates all disappeared. I was told that this was done by the use of backup
and restore.

I backup my data to a floppy and restore it to the laptop. I use a new
directory for the database. And when the new data is up and running I delete
what ever old directory I had previous data on. TMG gives you all sorts of
warnings when you restore data on top of a previously created database so
this avoids all those messages. Also I've have problems when restoring
because one of my 3.5 disks will be bad. This might not work for you if you
don't have a lot of hard drive space.

When I return from my research trip I immediately backup and restore to my
PC
in the same manner.
