I assume you are referring to the Birthorder Flag. While it is up to each
user to use or not use the flag, TMG sorts children by birthdate. But
there are many children for which you don't have a birthdate of any kind.
In some cases, all you know is that one or more of the children had a
specific birth order, and this is the intent of the Birthorder Flag.
Remember also that the Birthorder Flag will override the Birth Date -- so
if you have dates for all children and enter the birth order in the Flag,
the flag order will take precedence over the dates (usually no big deal as
they are the same, but...).
In most cases, I do not enter the birth order in the flag, and enter it in
the Memo of the Birth tag -- this is only if I have sources specifically
telling the birth order of a person.
For twins, if you don't use the birthorder flag, you can adjust the Birth
tag Sort Date so that one twin sorts before the other. The Sort Date never
prints anywhere and only displays on the Tag Entry Screen.
