Yesterday Peggy Heard asked:

>How do you back up the TMG file? I have backup of my data set but want to
>back up the whole thing.

You should back up your TMG data sets to some kind of external medium and
do it regularly! For most people this as a diskette (Floppy Disk) in your
"A" drive. You may also want to back up your configuration settings and
report formats if you have made extensive changes to the TMG defaults.
To save your custom CRW report formats, go to the TMG Help pull down
window: Help -> Search for Help on -> <type> CRW and look for the
instructions "Export Report Definition". Now export your custom reports to
that diskette.

There is no need to back up the TMG program. Your back up is your TMG CD-ROM.

I assume that you have a Heard ancestor who started all this <G>. You want
to create a Genealogy Report for that ancestor. From the TMG Reports pull
down menu: Reports -> Descendants -> Journal [Narrative]. The default TMG
report is an excellent way to begin. You will need to tell TMG to create
the report in Word97 format and will need to give it a folder and document
(file and directory) name. Both settings are on the report definition
screen. If you are using Windows 95/98 why not put in in your "My
Documents" folder. The important thing to remember is where you put the
report so that you can find and open it in Word97. (Again: Help -> Search
for Help on -> <type> Journal.)

Hope this is basic enough,

George
