Subject: TMG-L: Thankyou Re: Married Name Tag

Hello All.
Just wanted to send a mass thankyou to Bob Page, Ken Nelson, Norm
Hustad, Cliff Watts, Bob Gillis, Darryl Rowles, Frankie Liles, Mary Lou
Bailey, Karen Willard and John Cardinal (I hope I didn't forget anyone)
for their replies to my NAME-MARR tag question. I can see both sides of
the argument now. I think now, from your replies, that this tag could
come in very handy. Especially if the woman married more than once, or
divorced and returned to her maiden name - therefore being able to see
what her last name was at all times. And, as several of you mentioned,
being able to look up a woman by her married name could be a big help.
I know in my head that my Elizabeth Glover's married name was Elizabeth
Mallett because she is one of the main characters in my family, but when
you get into some of the more obscure members of a large database I
wouldn't really know if I had a Mary Jones if I only had Mary Smith in
the database. I am convinced - it makes perfect sense and I thank
Wholley Genes for designing a feature I didn't even realize I needed -
and now am not sure I could do without. As long as I know what is going
on in my picklist, and can turn the secondary names off if I need to, I
can deal with the possibly confusing picklist.
I think I'll wait for John's add-in though to add the tags in all at
once. Bob mentioned that if I did a direct import, that the NAME-MARR
tags might already be set up. Yes, I had done a direct import (from a
very old version of PAF), so I checked this out. But, alas, they were
not there.
So thanks to you all for your kind help.
