Hello List,

I have re-subscribed to the list after a long absence and several deaths in
the family. I am now finally getting back to genealogy and working with TMG.

One of my databases includes my Welsh ancestors and I have several
questions, regarding my input of information.

1. My early Welsh ancestors used patronymics rather than surnames and
precludes entering a married name for spouses. I have entered them as:

For Males:
First: Einion
Surname: ap Iowerth

For females:
First: Efa
Surname: ferch Gruffudd

One of the problems that I am concerned with, is the mixing of this type of
entry in the database with those ancestors who are recorded with a surname
and the use of a married name. Will this present a problem with indexing?
If so, would it be best to split the database?

2. Now that I am accumulating this information, the need to figure out how
to present the database in print and harness the information arises. If it
were a normal database, I probably would be able to break it up into
chapters by surname. However, the nature of the database (along with all
of the inter-marriages) precludes this. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

3. Illigitimate children were often the norm for the early Welsh. When
entering a mother for these children, I need to show (and print) that no
marriage occured and that the child was illigitimate. Should this
information be included as a note, as I can only find a marriage tag.?

Thank you for any help and it is most appreciated.

Gee Gee Hughes
