In my case, the short answer is "yes". Yes, it is a lot of work and Yes I do
it. I too was bothered at first with the amount of work, but once I began
seeing the results, I was pleased. I feel that if you are going to spend a
bit of time in the censuses, then getting all that they have to offer is
well worth it. If they were not a large part of my research, then I would
not do it. Many of my folks have nothing recorded about them except what I
find there in the censuses, so it fills in gaps nicely. I was surprised at
how much you could get from a census.
Just my opinion.
