Dan,
The important part of your dilemma is that you installed Office 2000. My
guess is that the install program dumped a bunch of fonts into your fonts
folder and pushed you out over the 225 limit. Check to see how many fonts
are installed and cut it back to 225 or so and I will bet that your problems
dissolve.
