Lee's filter works for the descendants of a particular ancestor.

Apparently, though, Otis wants the ancestors of a particular person, along
with one generation of descendants of each ancestor. For those
descendants, the spouses and their parents would also have to be included
in order to have all the people who normally are named in a "reverse
register."

A filter to select this group involves using multiple passes of the List of
People report to set a flag. In outline you need the following groups and
passes.

First pass: Person X AND ancestors of person X and their descendants for 1
generation.
Second pass: Those selected in pass 1 and their spouses.
Third pass: Those selected in pass 2 and their ancestors for 1 generation.

When you are finished, you will have
(a) all of the ancestors of the target person, with any non-ancestral spouses.
(b) all of the non-ancestral children of the ancestors, with their spouses.
(c) the parents of all the non-related spouses.

Hope this helps,
Allen
