It's really not too hard, you're just hearing people's problems. Most of
the time, most of us don't have problems--and speaking for myself, most of
my problems have not been any big deal. Even some that first looked serious
weren't.
Just take things slowly and don't worry about getting everything perfect
the first time. Nobody does (at anything). Even if you later decide you
hate the way you've done something, it's just work to fix it, not the
disaster of a lifetime. I'm a fairly detail-oriented person and have lots
of things in my database that could be phrased better, or sourced a bit
better, and so on. I just fix these things gradually and don't expect to
have a perfect database (although I do want it much improved by the time I
produce the Huebner Reunion booklet in three years!).

time
for that) but I'm curious how everyone got started. Is it just a matter of
diving in the deep end (after going through tutorial and getting a bit of
an
idea about it all)? Are there any TMG how to books?
I'm really worried about going in without enough of an understanding of
what
I'm doing and then in a few months time finding that I stuffed heaps of
things up. I waded into FTM without much general genealogy knowledge and
I've got heaps to sort out as I move across to TMG. The plan is to
re-enter
everything and source it as I go but I'm still worried that I don't know
enough to do it properly.
Any suggestions would be most greatfully received,
Sue.
